Analysis is amazing. The symbolism in this video and especially the sequencing doesn't feel like pure chance. Seems very mindful. Also...lead singer looks incredibly pissed off, which to me, speaks to the true emotion behind the lyrics.
So many of MCR's other songs have lyrics that appear to hold meaning outside of a simple pop song.
Why thank you. For another example, the video for "I Don't Love You" is one of the more potent MCR songs that shows the dark/light symbolism. You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyi0ZfuIIvo
I feel like a sheep trying to learn to read. Your observations are fascinating and make me hunger for more. I want to learn more symbolism and I don’t know where to do that. Can’t wait for your next writing. Thank you for taking the time to explain this.
Great stuff again! I just stumbled across a video from the band Cake, the video has a very weird I Pet goat feel to it, just wondering if you ever came across anything related to Cake in your research? I was never a big fan, just remember they had a couple decent songs way back in the 90's. But they still seem to be hanging around and doing stuff. And this video was released around the same timeframe as I pet goat I believe. I am interested in your thoughts...
It was weird how I even got sucked in to this rabbit hole. Someone posted a tweet with a link to the cake song "going the distance" and implied that the song and video were somehow connected to JFK Jr. And his death or supposed disappearance. I couldn't really find anything that jumped out at me, but I'm not nearly as good at researching this stuff as you and some others are. Anyway, thought you might find it interesting.
wow, you spoke my language...music...it makes everything a bit more understandable. My kids grew up to MCR, we used to listen to the music in carpool...I feel like I had a second growing up with them...so many bands, these days I wonder often who was telling the real tale of what goes on behind the curtain. Thank you for this, I never would have guessed or thought twice. WOW.
Love this. Every song on the album makes sense in this current context. I think you might be dead on about your 30 Seconds to Mars theory.

You're quite welcome!
Read this AFTER listening to you speak of it and it made my ears itch, again.

The only thing I saw that stood out to me was that at the end of the song, the clock stopped at exactly 6PM.

I’ve had this song on my iPod for years. I would have never guessed it was about someone dying from cancer.
